Shorebird Festival Time

I woke up this morning to the sparkle of the sunlight on our freshly unfrozen pond filled with swans, geese and ducks. A beautiful sight. A perfect setting for the 2011 Shorebird Festival.
I wanted to mention some sights here at the shop just in time for the festivities.

First of all there is the arrival of our newest Three Irish Girls colorway. It is based on a Christmas card I received from Tony, Christa and Hayley Hoover, painted by Tony in his wonderful distinctive vibrant style and colors. Named "Latackaq", pronounced La-Tosh-Tuck, after the Alutiiq word for Swallow bird, it is a vibrant blend of cerulean blues, emerald green, bright yellow, with a hint of orange. There are two new bases, Roslea, which is an organic wool, and Felicity, which is a lovely 50/50 blend of silk and wool. I have an idea that this yarn will knit up beautifully in a two color knitting project, so I am brainstorming right now on what that might be. It is a great yarn to kick off the spring/summer knitting season. Just to let you know, spring knitting actually beats spring cleaning any day.

We also have on display the sample needlework of the needlepoint project we will be working on this summer in the Beginning Needlepoint class we will be having this summer at the
shop. It is a tapestry style rendition of a Charley Harper painting of a trumpeter swan. Our guest instructor will be Keri Duke from Hawaii, who is a professional needlepoint and quilt instructor. She will be teaching a workshop with the quilters guild on Hawaiian quilting that should be great as well. Contact the guild if you are interested.

We have lots of new in the store and hope you can stop in and see all the new pretties.
Summer is right around the corner. Stay tuned for the summer classes to come. If you haven't signed up for The Three Irish Girls workshops with Yarnista Sharon, now is a good time, as classes are filling up.

If you haven't had a chance to see and breathe in Lollia, know that Lollia is THE perfect Mother's Day gift. Perfumes, Fragrant Bubble Baths, Candles and Shea Butter Creams, in beautiful beautiful packaging. We are passing out free samples while supplies last, so come by and give it a try.
Annie Glass is here too. Plus Love and Toast, fresh and fragrant bath and body care.
SO much to choose from!

So, here is to springtime! Have a wonderful May.
Spring is most definitely in the air...
Happy Shorebird Festival Everyone!
Happy Mother's Day one and all!
