craftalong

An inspirational craftalong; once a month, through our four seasons. Guided by the wonderful book, "The Children's Year: Seasonal crafts and clothes" by Cooper, Fynes-Clinton, and Rowling.

The book is divided into four sections, each pertaining to a season. Within each section there are many projects to choose from; however for this craftalong, choosing to complete one project per month will be the goal. The projects are varied and include paper crafts, woodworking, sewing, knitting, and more.

Some of the projects can be completed in a day, while others take a bit longer. The goal is to have a picture of the completed project (along with a description) by the end of each month, up on this blog:
http://wwwthechildrensyearcraftalong.blogspot.com/

You may email me (windsting@hotmail.com) the pictures of your completed projects along with a description (you do not need a blog to join in). If you would like your blog name to appear on the sidebar as a link however, just let me know.

January's craftalong will be project 108, the Needle Case

I love this project, perfect for a beginning knitter
(whether that be an adult or child).

Located on page 159, it is a very simple knitted rectangle; using wool felt for the needle pages, and two cords to tie. It calls for DK wool and a pair of size 4 needles. However one can use any type of wool and needles to achieve the envisioned result.

We will be meeting at The Net Loft from 10-1 on Saturday, January 30th.

Craftalong with love! Anna

DALE STORY
Dale is a small village in Western Norway surrounded by towering mountains. The entrepreneur Peter Jebsen saw the possibilities provided by the village's natural waterfall on the Dale River. In 1879he founded a textile mill, which was to become "Dale of Norway". Ever since 1879 Dale of Norway has been producing high quality products and is today the largest manufacturer of traditional Norwegian knitwear.  Dale of Norway is the designer and manufacturer of the Norwegian Olympic Ski Team Sweaters.
